Benitoite is said to be one of the three great rare gemstones of America. It is a stone full of charm as a gemstone, possessing a strong brilliance like a diamond and a beautiful blue like a sapphire. It is said to have been discovered in the 1900s near the San Benito River in California, and is characterized by its strong light dispersion. This color is rare for benitoite, also known as peach benitoite. Generally, benitoite is famous for its blue color, but this is a color treated by heating a colorless stone. During heating, the stones may crack, and very few turn peach-colored, resulting in a low supply and generally higher value than blue benitoite.
