2月誕生石

February birthstone

The birthstone for February is amethyst and cat's eye chrysoberyl .

Amethyst refers to purple quartz. There is also a gemstone called ametrine, which is a combination of amethyst and yellow citrine. It is often cut in special shapes such as plant or flower shapes, so it is fun to collect different cuts and can be enjoyed as everyday jewelry.

Chrysoberyl cat's eye is one of the varieties of chrysoberyl. When it is cabochon cut (dome-shaped cut) and light is shone on it from above, it has a cat's eye effect (chatoyancy), where a streak of light appears in the center. There are many other gemstones with the cat's eye effect, but this is the most representative and is sometimes simply called "cat's eye".
