diaspore

Diaspores are colorless gemstones with colors such as white, pink, gray, yellow, pale purple, and brown. Although it is sometimes sold under the trade name zultanite, it is the same mineral. It is said that the name comes from the Greek word diaspora (to shatter) because it has the property of crackling and popping when heated to high temperatures. Some have color changing properties that change color depending on the light source, and some have strong pleochroism.
