Sunstone is not a name that refers to a single gemstone, but a gemstone name given to minerals belonging to the feldspar group that have an aventurescence effect with an orange to red ground color. The aventurescence effect is an optical effect in which internal inclusions sparkle like glitter when exposed to light. It is said to have been named because it stands in contrast to moonstone, which has a sparkling light within it.
