A type of feldspar produced in Malawi, Southeast Africa. It is characterized by fine, iridescent light streaks appearing within a translucent crystal. While general moonstone and rainbow moonstone are admired for their surface schiller, Malawi-produced moonstone is attractive for its internal iridescent light that appears to penetrate the stone. This iridescence is caused by light interference from slight distortions and layered structures within the crystal, creating an impressive appearance with band-like brilliance that spreads in a specific direction. The contrast between transparency and iridescence is beautiful, and those with particularly good color are rare and limited in production. Please enjoy the unique light expression of each stone.
