Chrysoberyl is a stone that comes in a rich variety of shades, from pale yellow to green and deep brown. It is a hard and durable gemstone. This particular stone exhibits a cat's eye effect, and a penlight was used for the photography. The back of the stone is essentially unpolished.
This is a highly transparent chrysoberyl cat's eye from Ratnapura, sourced in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan polisher Mr. Sanje has given it a 4.3mm round cabochon cut to maximize the cat's eye effect.
