Book "Small Jewels" (Author: Keiichiro Koyama / Planning cooperation with KARATZ)
"The Book of Little Jewels" is the latest publication in Liberal Publishing's "Little Book Series."
In addition to the gem encyclopedia page introducing Japanese birthstones, which was revised at the end of 2021, the book also contains local legends related to gems, gems beloved by great people, and introductions to literature and paintings that feature gems, making it a very satisfying read that allows you to enjoy gems from many different perspectives.
Sales have steadily increased since its release, and a reprint has been decided in early January 2025, just over a month after its release. We have received a lot of positive feedback.
■Features of "Small Jewels Book"

The author, Keiichiro Koyama (CEO of KARATZ), paid the most attention to making the book interesting for beginners. He tried to write in easy-to-understand language without getting too technical.
For this reason, we have deliberately reduced the amount of information provided and chosen words that are easy to understand.

❖Birthstone

We are introducing the 29 Japanese birthstones, which were revised in December 2021, using beautiful photographs that KARATZ is proud of.
❖Gemstone Encyclopedia

Starting with the world's four major gemstones - diamond, ruby, sapphire, and emerald - we introduce 29 Japanese birthstones, divided into three blocks, as revised in December 2021.
Enjoy the beautiful photos of each gemstone.
One of the things we focused on on this year's gem encyclopedia page is the addition of a category called "ease of handling" in addition to the Mohs hardness scale.
The unique index is based on three axes: Mohs hardness (an index of resistance to scratches), toughness (resistance to cracks and chips), and stability (resistance to chemical changes), and is expressed on a five-level scale, allowing users to clearly see whether or not a gemstone requires care when worn or stored as jewelry.
❖ Historical figures and jewels
The love of gemstones is universal. Many historical figures have stories related to gemstones. We will be introducing some of them in the spotlight.
Some of the stories are well known, while others may make you go, "huh?" Please enjoy them as a bit of trivia.
❖Constellation stone
There are various theories about the origin of zodiac stones, but one of them is that they are based on astrology that began with the Babylonian dynasty of ancient Mesopotamian civilization.
It includes a brief introduction to their origins, as well as beautiful photographs of two representative gemstones for each zodiac sign.
Some are the same as birthstones, while others are different gemstones. Please use this as a reference to find out which gemstones are related to you.
❖Ancient civilizations and gems
Although gemstones are generally classified as such, there are many different types, and they have a wide range of histories, with some having been mined since ancient times and others only recently discovered.
Gemstones have been popular since ancient times, and there are many legends about them in each region. We will introduce some of them here.
❖Gallery in jewels
Many gemstones contain other minerals inside, and have artistic appearances due to their optical effects, coloring, etc. One of the ways to enjoy them is to feel the uniqueness and mystery of the earth.
We use large photographs on the entire page, so please enjoy the details.
In addition, the book also includes introductions to literary works and paintings that feature gems, as well as legendary gems, making it a very engaging read that allows you to experience gems from every angle.
I hope this will be an opportunity for you to learn about the depth of gemstones and their immeasurable appeal.
