Sapphire is a famous gemstone that needs no introduction. Its mineral is corundum, the same as ruby, but all non-red corundum is called sapphire. With a hardness of 9, second only to diamond, sapphire is a highly durable and stable gemstone that is easy to care for. This is a rare unheated sapphire from Sri Lanka.
This is an unheated purple sapphire cut by Sri Lankan lapidary Sanje. It comes with a GIA identification report.
