Phenakite is a rare gemstone, ranging from colorless and transparent to white. It is a relatively new mineral, first reported by N. Nordenskiöld in 1834. Due to its limited production and small crystal size, gem-quality specimens are rare. This makes an excellent addition to any collection. This particular piece is from the rare Malyshev mine in Russia and was polished in Russia. It is a highly transparent phenakite from the Russian Malyshev mine, cut by the Sri Lankan lapidary, Mr. Sanje.
