Aquamarine is said to have been used by fishermen as a talisman for navigation in the past. It is a type of mineral called beryl, the same as emerald, and is called aquamarine when it is blue to light blue, reminiscent of the sea.

This oval-cut aquamarine was polished by Sanjay, a Sri Lankan craftsman. It has been carefully cut so that the color does not fade even when viewed from the front.
