This is a star sapphire that exhibits the star effect. The back is often left unpolished and rugged, as it is intentionally left uncut. When light is applied, a soft star appears and disappears. Please enjoy viewing it from various angles. Note that the photography was also done using a penlight. The back of the stone is basically unpolished. This is a sapphire known as Bang Kacha sapphire, mined at the Bang Kacha mine in Thailand.
