Sri Lankan Moonstone 0.249ct Loose Gemstone (Blue Moonstone) with Identification Report

This blue moonstone features a pale, ghostly light that appears as if it is being illuminated by a spotlight in its center. The charm of moonstone lies in an optical effect called "schiller," where light seems to emerge softly from within the stone. When light hits this piece, a distinct, pale blue glow appears right in the center. While some gems sold under the name "blue moonstone" are mineralogically classified as peristerite or other varieties, this is a genuine blue moonstone that qualifies as such mineralogically as well. It is a true blue moonstone, displaying a beautiful, pale blue schiller. It is cut in a buff-top style, allowing you to enjoy both a rounded surface and the brilliance of the facets. As you change the angle, you can enjoy the blue light moving across the surface of the stone. A gem identification report is included.
*The photos were taken using a penlight at an angle that makes the schiller easy to see.
