Musgravite, a rare gemstone known to only a select few, is said to have been first discovered in the Musgrave Range of Australia in 1967. It's been less than 50 years since its discovery. Due to its chemical composition being very similar to spinel and taaffeite, it was reportedly very difficult for identification laboratories to distinguish until recently. An appraisal report from the Japan-Germany Gemmological Laboratory is included.
