This moonstone appears as if a spotlight is shining in its center. This bright optical effect, resembling the glow of the moon, is the hallmark of a moonstone. The photos were taken using a penlight.
This is a moonstone from Uva, Sri Lanka, that was only recently mined. We purchased it as a rough stone, and it was polished into a brilliant round specialty cut by Sri Lankan artisan Mr. Sanje.
