Paraiba tourmaline is captivating for its unique hue, distinct from both the blue of the sea and the blue of the sky. In Japan, "copper-bearing blue to green tourmaline" is referred to as Paraiba tourmaline, regardless of its origin.
This piece is a Paraiba tourmaline from the Batalha Mine in Brazil. It features a vivid, bright blue color with high transparency. When it catches the light, a fresh, aquatic blue spreads across the stone, showcasing the beautiful coloration unique to Paraiba tourmaline. It contains 1.16% CuO (copper oxide) and 4.27% MnO (manganese oxide). This is a stone that can be appreciated not just for its color, but also for these specific chemical characteristics.
A grading report and analysis report from the Central Gem Laboratory (CGL) are included.
