Chrysoberyl is a stone that varies in shades from pale yellow to green and dark brown. It is a hard and durable gemstone. This particular stone exhibits a cat's eye effect, and a penlight was used for the photography. The back of the stone is essentially unpolished.

This is a highly transparent Ratnapura chrysoberyl cat's eye, purchased in Sri Lanka. It has been cut into a round cabochon by Sri Lankan polisher Mr. Sanje, so you can enjoy its cat's eye effect.
