[Sale on June 6 at 10 PM] Pyrite in Emerald from Chivor Mine, Colombia, 4.221 ct Loose Stone
It is said that the beautiful green color of emeralds varies depending on their origin. This particular emerald is from Colombia, known for its especially deep green hue. Emeralds are generally stones with many inclusions, so oil treatment is commonly used to make these inclusions less noticeable. Please enjoy this elegant green color. This is an emerald with pyrite inclusions.
This is a pyrite-in-emerald from the Chivor mine in Colombia. The Chivor mine is known for producing beautiful emeralds with a bluish tint. This particular loose stone features pyrite within the emerald. The addition of metallic-lustered pyrite to the emerald allows for an expression different from a plain emerald. It is a stone where you can feel its individuality as a mineral.
Such pyrite-in-emeralds are known not only for their interesting appearance but also for the difficulty in polishing them. This is because emerald and pyrite have different hardnesses, with emerald being harder, so in normal polishing, the pyrite part tends to indent. For this reason, such stones are carefully cut over time locally in Colombia. Precisely because different minerals coexist within a single stone, a high level of skill and care is required in the finishing.
