It is actually a mixture of two types of garnet, andradite garnet and grossular garnet. It is called Mali garnet because it was discovered in the Republic of Mali. Mali garnet itself comes in a wide range of colors, including yellow, green, orange, and brown.
This is a custom-cut Mali garnet cut by Sanjay, a Sri Lankan cutter. It has been carefully cut so that the color does not fade even when viewed from the front.
