Sapphire is a well-known stone. It is made from the same mineral as ruby, corundum, but all corundum other than red is called sapphire. With a hardness of 9, sapphire is the second hardest gemstone after diamond, and is also tough, stable, and easy to care for. This is a rare, unheated sapphire from Kashmir. It comes with a GIA certificate of authenticity.
