Pigeon Blood Ruby 0.940ct Loose GIA
Ruby has been loved as a gemstone since ancient times. It is a red corundum. Ruby is the second hardest gemstone after diamond with a hardness of 9, and is tough, stable, and easy to care for. This is a rare pigeon blood ruby. It comes with a GIA certificate.
[GIA certificate included | Notation: Heated (Minor Residues)]
This ruby has been identified by the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) as "Heated (Minor Residues)". This notation indicates that the stone has been heat treated and that slight residues can be seen from the process .
GIA uses the following scale to describe the presence or absence of heat and the level of residue:
- No Indications of Heating
- Heated (heated, almost no residue)
- Heated (Minor Residues)
- Heated (Moderate Residues)
- Heated (Significant Residues)
The residue here refers to very small amounts of mineral-derived auxiliary agents (such as borax) used during heat treatment that remain in cracks within the crystal. It does not significantly affect transparency or appearance, and the beauty of the gemstone is fully maintained.
