Moss agate is a mysterious stone that looks as if plants are embedded within it. Its patterns resemble moss or underwater algae, and some have a deep green color reminiscent of tree branches or forests. Moss agate is a polycrystalline form of quartz. Its Japanese name is "Menou" (瑪瑙), and there are records of it being mined in Japan. This is a moss agate cut by Sri Lankan master polisher Mr. Sanje.
