Braenite has an appealing soft green color. Its Japanese name is "budoishi" (grape stone). Although it is not a very familiar name as a gemstone, braenite was first discovered quite a long time ago, in the 1700s. It is said to have been discovered by Colonel Hendrik von Braen, Governor of the Cape Colony in South Africa. It is a gemstone with a long history. This braenite was cut by Sri Lankan cutter Sanjay.
