The history of simulants manufactured as diamond substitutes goes back to the late 1940s, when synthetic rutile was introduced, followed by strontium titanate in the 1950s, and the artificial gemstone "YAG (Yttrium Aluminum Garnet)" which was in circulation around 1970. Also known as YAG, this artificial gemstone is a cousin of gadolinium gallium garnet (GGG).

This is a dandelion cut stone from Shimizu Kiseki. It is a 9mm YAG (yttrium aluminum garnet). It comes with a special patch .
