Myanmar Leuco Garnet 0.582ct Loose Stone [Featured in the Gemstone Encyclopedia]

Garnet comes in a wide variety of varieties. Some are colorless and are commonly known as "leuco garnets." They are also called white garnets, as the name comes from the Greek word for "white." Both are classified as "grossular garnets" for identification purposes. Colorless and transparent garnets are desirable and highly valuable, but because they are scarce in circulation, even near-colorless garnets with a slight amount of color are often sold as leuco garnets. Some types fluoresce, so if you have one, try shining a black light on it. It may be a UV type.
