[What is Heart & Cupid (H&C)]

Have you heard of Hearts & Cupids (H&C)?

Heart & Arrow is the name of a cut that is trademarked by the Central Gem Laboratory. The GIA (Gemological Institute of America) calls the same cut H&A (Heart and Arrow), and the AGT Laboratory calls it Hana-shirube, so although the names are different, they refer to the same thing.

When observing a round brilliant cut diamond, a diamond that displays an optical phenomenon pattern of eight "arrow shapes" on the crown side and eight "heart shapes" on the pavilion side is called Hearts & Arrows, and a special gemscope (observation device) is required to see this cut.

[How to use]

The Heart & Cupid cut is

・Diamond table surface (front, flat surface)

・Pavilion surface (back side, pointed part)

・When viewing the table surface

Set the diamond with the table surface (flat surface) facing up in the hole of the dedicated stone setting that comes with the scope. If you look at the diamond from above through the scope, you will see an arrow pattern (arrow, bow-like pattern). Hold the translucent part of the scope body to your eye to look.

・When looking at the pavilion side

The diamond is placed with the pavilion (pointed part) facing up on the flat surface of the inverted setting. When you look at it through a scope, you can see a heart pattern .

The heart pattern on the pavilion can only be seen when the stone is loose. After it is made into jewelry, only the arrow pattern on the table can be seen.

The scope comes with two types of film, red and blue. By changing the film, you can enjoy the different colors of the H&C patterns.
