Ametrine allows you to enjoy both the purple of amethyst and the yellow of citrine. Since both amethyst and citrine are varieties of quartz, the gem is known as "bicolor quartz" and is called "shi-ou-suisho" (purple-yellow quartz) in Japanese. This is a highly transparent ametrine cut by Sri Lankan lapidary Mr. Sanje.
