A moonstone that looks as if a spotlight is shining on its center. This bright optical effect, resembling the glow of the moon, is the defining characteristic of moonstone. These photos were taken using a penlight.
This is a moonstone from Uva, Sri Lanka, which has only been produced in recent years. Purchased as raw stone and polished into a special cut by Sri Lankan craftsman Mr. Sanje, this moonstone possesses a beautiful luster.
