Quartz, known as "suisho" in Japanese, is a stone that is very familiar in Japan, but it is also a profoundly deep category with an outstanding variety of types, including amethyst and citrine. As the name suggests, this is a quartz containing oil within the stone. It has fluorescent properties that cause the inclusions to glow blue when exposed to a black light, creating a truly fantastical appearance. This is an octagonally cut oil-in-quartz from Pakistan, precision-cut by Sri Lankan lapidary Mr. Sanje.
