Sapphire is a famous gemstone that needs no introduction. Its mineral is corundum, the same as ruby, but all corundum other than the red variety is called sapphire. This is the most classic blue sapphire. With a hardness of 9, second only to diamond, sapphire is a highly durable and stable gemstone that is easy to care for.
This stone was purchased as rough in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka, and cut by Sri Lankan lapidary Mr. Sanje; it features high clarity and brilliant sparkle. While it was purchased as unheated, no non-heated testing has been conducted. Please note that while a lab report may state "Commonly heated," this does not mean that heat treatment has been confirmed, but rather it is an expression used when testing to guarantee it is unheated has not been performed.
