Emerald, a stone famously loved by Cleopatra, is also a stone with imperfections, as the saying goes, "Flawless emeralds are as rare as flawless people." For this reason, oil treatment is commonly used to conceal scratches. When light is shone on it, a chatoyancy effect (cat's eye) can be observed. Its combination of tenderness and freshness is very appealing. The photos were taken using a penlight. The back of the stone is generally unpolished.

This is a highly transparent cabochon-cut Colombian emerald cat's eye. It comes with a sorting report from the Gemological Association of Japan.
