Montana sapphires originated when Dr. J.F. Kunz, then vice president of Tiffany, certified blue rough stones found in Yogo Gulch, Montana, as sapphires. While there are several deposits, this particular stone is from Yogo, often considered the birthplace of Montana sapphires. Yogo primarily yields blue to violet sapphires. Due to the mine's closure, these stones are now rare, with no new production.

This is an unheated sapphire from the Yogo Mine in Montana, USA. It boasts high transparency and an appealing calm, beautiful blue color. Cut into a pear shape, it exhibits a meticulous cut that minimizes color variation when viewed from the front. An origin identification report from the Japan-Germany Gemological Laboratory is included.
