A moonstone with a spotlight shining directly on it. This bright optical effect, similar to the moon's glow, is a characteristic feature of moonstones. A penlight was used for the photography.
This is a moonstone from Uva, Sri Lanka, which has only recently been mined. It was purchased as rough stone and polished into a brilliant round special cut by Sri Lankan polisher Mr. Sanje.
