Braenite has an appealing soft green color. Its Japanese name is "budoishi" (grape stone). Although it is not a very familiar name for a gemstone, braenite was first discovered quite a long time ago, in the 1700s. It is said to have been discovered by Colonel Hendrik von Prehn, who was the governor of the Cape Colony in South Africa. It is a gemstone with a long history.
This is a custom-cut Australian playnite piece polished by Sri Lankan polisher Sanju.
