Sapphire is a well-known stone. It is made from the same mineral as ruby, corundum, but all corundum other than red is called sapphire. This is a yellow sapphire. With a hardness of 9, sapphire is the second hardest gemstone after diamond, and is also highly durable and stable, making it easy to care for. It fluoresces orange when exposed to black light.

This is a Sakura in-cut sapphire from Shimizu Precious Stones. It is from Ratnapura, Sri Lanka.
