[Available 9/27 at 10 PM] Cacholong Amethyst 0.531ct Loose Stone

This amethyst was mined from the Cachoeira mine in the state of Rondônia, Brazil, over a short four-year period between 2000 and 2004. Cachoeira amethyst is known for its vivid deep purple color and is also called "color-shift amethyst" because it takes on a reddish-purple hue under warm lighting. The mine was originally opened to search for the rare metal tantalum ore, and when this amethyst was first brought to Japan, its appearance was so stunning—and its properties so similar to those of synthetic amethyst—that it was initially suspected of being fake. This Cachoeira amethyst was cut by Sri Lankan lapidary Mr. Sanje.
