Petalite, discovered in the 1800s, is a famous mineral known as a lithium ore. It is a difficult stone to cut due to its fragile and brittle nature. Its Japanese name is "petalite," which comes from its tendency to split apart like the veins of a leaf. It is found in colors ranging from light pink and light gray to white and colorless.
