South African Sugilite 0.358ct loose stone

Sugilite, also known as cedar stone in Japanese, is originally a tiny pale yellowish brown crystal, but it became famous when Dr. Kenichi Sugi and Mr. Masanori Hisatsuna of Kyushu University discovered a purple variety of Sugilite. Although small amounts of this gemstone are mined in Japan, larger crystals are mainly mined from the Wessel mine in the Kalahari Desert in South Africa. This gemstone has a beautiful deep purple color that is hard to describe.
