Peridot is a gemstone with an attractive light green color like young grass. It is famous as the birthstone for August. The word originates from the Latin olive. The olive-like youthful green color is attractive. This one in particular has a star effect depending on the angle, so a penlight was used to take the photo. The back of the stone is basically unpolished. This is a rare type of peridot/star peridot purchased in Thailand.
