Red beryl is famous as a rare stone. It is also called "bixbite" after the mineralogist who discovered it, Maynard Bixby. Mineral-wise, it is a member of the beryl group, which also includes emerald and aquamarine. This is a rare untreated, oil-free red beryl. In recent years, the production of gem-quality non-oil red beryl has been extremely rare, and this is a non-oil red beryl that was just polished in 2023 from an old stock owned by the mine owner.
