Paraiba tourmaline is attractive for its exquisite color, which is different from the blue of the sea and the blue of the sky. In Japan, it is defined as "blue to green tourmaline containing copper (regardless of origin)." It is a gemstone that has a long-standing popularity. This is a rare parti-color even for Paraiba tourmaline. It is a Brazilian Paraiba tourmaline (from Batalha) with CuO: 1.8% and MnO: 3.0%. It comes with a sorting from the Gemstone and Precious Metals Association of Japan.

Parti-color Paraiba tourmaline is rarely found in circulation, and may have chips on the surface to maintain its weight, but these are all derived from the raw stone.
