American Benitoite 0.339ct loose stone

Benitoite is said to be one of the three rarest stones in America. It has a strong brilliance like a diamond and a beautiful blue color like a sapphire, making it a very attractive gemstone. It is said to have been discovered near the San Benito River in California in the 1900s, and is characterized by its strong light dispersion. This is a rare cabochon cut loose stone for benitoite.

It is accompanied by a red stone, which may be neptunite, but we cannot be certain without destructive testing.
