Tourmaline is one of the birthstones for October. It is a gemstone with so many color variations that it is said that there is no such thing as a non-existent color, and some gemstones show multiple colors within a single stone. It has the property of generating static electricity when heated, and its Japanese name is "tournament stone." Some are called by specific names depending on their color.
