Peridot is said to be a solid solution of forsterite (magnesium-containing olivine) and fayalite (iron-containing olivine), and it is said that if there is a lot of forsterite, the color will be yellow-green to green, and if there is a lot of fayalite, the color will be black. It comes with a certificate of identification from the Japan-Germany Gemological Institute.
