One of the things we focused on on this year's gem encyclopedia page is the addition of a category called "ease of handling" in addition to the Mohs hardness scale.
The unique index is based on three axes: Mohs hardness (an index of resistance to scratches), toughness (resistance to cracks and chips), and stability (resistance to chemical changes), and is expressed on a five-level scale, allowing users to clearly see whether or not a gemstone requires care when worn or stored as jewelry.

The love of gemstones is universal. Many historical figures have stories related to gemstones. We will be introducing some of them in the spotlight.
