Myanmar Baddeleyite 0.401ct loose stone by Nikkei

Baddeleyite is a rare stone that is sometimes called natural zirconia overseas because its composition is very similar to that of cubic zirconia (CZ), which is also known as a diamond imitation. Baddeleyite and cubic zirconia (CZ) have the same chemical composition, ZrO2 (zirconium oxide), but while baddeleyite is a monoclinic crystal, cubic zirconia is a cubic crystal, and there are differences in Mohs hardness and refractive index, so they cannot be considered exactly the same mineral. This is baddeleyite purchased in Tucson, USA. Comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Japan-Germany Gemological Institute.
