Rutilated quartz has a beautiful golden shine. "Golden needles" made of rutile are embedded in the crystal. Its Japanese name is "Kinronishi." It is also called "rutile in quartz," "rutiled quartz," or "rutilated quartz." A penlight is used for photographing in order to capture the beautiful shine of the inclusions.

This is the "Konpeito" that has been a hot topic on social media. It is a work by Professor Makoto Nakano, who is also a lecturer at Yamanashi Prefectural College of Jewelry and Art (Jewelry School) and is very famous as a gem polisher in Japan. Each piece is carved one by one with a gem engraving machine, taking into consideration the placement of the protrusions, and it takes one day to make one. Please see here for details.
