The relationship between Sri Lanka, the Land of Gemstones, and KARATZ

Sri Lanka has been known since ancient times for its production of various gemstones, including sapphires and moonstones, and is one of the most important countries in the jewelry industry.

There are many factories that process and polish the gems mined in the mines, and gems are an essential part of the lives of the people of Sri Lanka.

However, the threat of COVID-19 that began in early 2020 has had a major impact on Sri Lanka, like many other countries.
Furthermore, in July 2022, when the Sri Lankan government declared bankruptcy and the economy was forced into collapse, people began to be forced to live lives where they struggled to find work, let alone get enough to eat.

Sri Lanka's polishing technology is ranked high by global standards, and the products sold by Karatz are highly regarded by many customers for their high quality, and there are many talented people who are too precious to lose.

Therefore, even though the COVID-19 pandemic has made it impossible for Caratz to travel overseas in person, they have continued to do business with them via mail and email, and continue to support their livelihoods by making frequent requests even now, after the economic collapse.

In addition, since the bankruptcy declaration, power outages have become frequent in Sri Lanka, making it difficult to obtain daily necessities, and we have heard that children even lack the stationery they need to study. Therefore, when our representative, Mr. Koyama, visited Sri Lanka in December 2022, he purchased stationery for local children and donated it through the Sri Lankan government.

In addition, when he visited in October 2023, he called for donations of pencils and other items through social media before leaving the country, and delivered many pencils, colored pencils, and other items collected from all over the country.

A ceremony is held at the local elementary school each time, providing an opportunity to hand the gifts directly to the children. Every time I see the children's shining eyes, I am filled with a sense of mission and passion to protect them.
