This is a common opal that does not exhibit play of color and exhibits a blue color.
It is mainly semi-transparent to opaque.
The highly transparent opal produced in Peru, which has a Caribbean-like color, is called "Peruvian Blue Opal" and has been selected as Peru's national stone.
Opal is the birthstone for October.
